Marilyn Kay Choate, a resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away on September 14, 2022. She was 73 years old. Kay was a good wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved to go to church and praised the Lord every chance she got. She was a saved Christian since the age of eight years old. She loved the simple things of life and never complained. Just a phone call from her family was greater than any gift money could buy. Although she had many problems with her health for the past 20 years, she always kept a positive attitude and smile on her face. She never questioned God's will and her faith in Him only grew stronger. Kay worked in God ministry for many years and preached the word and helped pastor three churches in the later part of her life. She was a true servant to the people around her. No love was purer than hers. Kay was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Only the Lord can fill the emptiness in our lives without her, but we can do all things through Christ Jesus.

Kay was preceded in death by her stepson; Barton Dale Choate; parents, Otha and Bobby Jo Mayo; and brothers, Donald Gene Mayo, Ronald Dean Mayo, and Otha Edward Mayo.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 31 years, Kenneth Choate; sons, James Bruce Gray (Michelle), Noah Edward Gray (Angela), Adam Robert Gray (Jaime); stepdaughters, Nadine Marie Davis (Ken) and Shannon C. Lee; twenty grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; brother, Robert Mayo (Carol); sisters, Gwen Mayo (Sarah Glenn) and Deanna Christine Familton; daughter-in-law, Sandra Choate; other relatives; and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Lighthouse of Praise Church with Bro. Ken Davis officiating. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm EST on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Roseland Memorial Gardens in Jackson, Michigan. Online condolences may be given at www.freemancitronelle.com.
