Bro. Alfred Ray Sullivan, Sr. passed away at his home on Sunday, March 21, 2021. He was 59 years old. Alfred worked many years as a general contractor until his health declined. Bro. Alfred was known in the community for his ministry of the Gospel to win souls to the Lord. He pastored the Refuge for Souls Holiness Church for over 18 years. Bro. Alfred loved to play the guitar and sing. He loved gospel music and released an album in the 1990s. He loved his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, George Sullivan; step-father, Bill Monroe Sullivan; daughter, Tabitha Sullivan; son, Adam Sullivan; brothers, Dossie Karl Sullivan, George Wayne Sullivan and Legis Sullivan; and sister, Joyce Newburn. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 41 years, Debra Sullivan; children, Alfred Sullivan, Jr., Rebecca Robinson (Jonathan), and Kenza Williams (Daniel); step-daughter, Phyllis Lovelace (Joe); 18 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and one on the way; mother, Margie Sullivan; siblings, Wanda Johnston, Josephine Bradford, Charlene Weaver and Perry Sullivan; special brother-in-law, Tony Ballentino; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 11am until the 12pm funeral service on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Davis officiating. Burial will be in Byrd Cemetery.
