Alfred “Buddy” Givens, a resident of Vinegar Bend, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, July 07, 2021, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He was 86 years old, born July 15, 1934. Buddy was deeply patriotic and served the country he loved in the United States Army during the Korean War. After serving, he enjoyed traveling with his family from coast to coast. Buddy developed a passion for antiques, collecting just about anything interesting. His love of history and the desire to teach it to others motivated his vision and the creation of Old Town Museum, which he built almost single handedly. Most of all, he was a devoted family man and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Givens. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Al, Malia, and Stella; grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah, Sarah, Emily, Collin Anne, and W.J. “Wesley”; siblings, Thelma Simmons and Cecil Givens; and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 10am until the 11am funeral service Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Chapel at Buddy’s Corner in Vinegar Bend with Rev. Don Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at freemancitronelle.com. Freeman Funeral Home – Citronelle, Alabama
