Bernice Malone

Bernice B. Malone, 90, a native of Citronelle, Alabama, lived in Citronelle until 2007 when she moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama. She passed away June 10, 2014 at her home. She was a lifelong member of Citronelle United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, working in her garden, and taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert J. Malone, Sr.; grandson, Michael L. Malone; Great Granddaughter, Leah Malone; parents, Vander and Corine Byrd; sister, Doris Erdman; brothers Charles Byrd and Wallace Byrd. Survived by her daughters, Carolyn Doughty and Clarice Fretwell; son, Herbert J. (Bessie) Malone, Jr.; Seven grandchildren, Krissy Fretwell Blake, Paul (Jill) Doughty, Michelle Doughty, Karen (Jeff) Deakins, Nicole (John) Turberville, Wilton (Naomi) Fretwell and Jessica (Michael) Newton; ten great qrandchildren, Jordan Blake, Rhett Blake, Malone Doughty, Sarah Deakins, Cole Deakins, Caroline Turberville, Mackenzie Morrison, John Bryars Turberville, Grant Fretwell and Aubrey Newton; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 2 pm at the Citronelle United Methodist Church with a visitation prior to the service beginning at 1pm with Rev. Lauren Helveston officiating. Interment will be at Pine Crest Cemetery in Citronelle. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Michael L Malone Memorial Law Enforcement Scholarship Fund at PO Box 25, Gulf Shores, AL 36547.
