Billie Langston Pierce, a dedicated paper mill worker, passed away on July 12, 2023, at the Robertsdale Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was 86 years old. Born on August 3, 1936,Billie grew up in Citronelle and Eight Mile, Alabama. He embarked on his admirable paper mill career at the young age of 16 in Mobile, Alabama. He began working with International Paper and later relocated to Jackson, Alabama, where he continued his journey with IP. Seeking new experiences and opportunities, Billie eventually moved to Plymouth, North Carolina to work at Weyerhauser before settling in Dublin, Georgia where he retired from Southeast Paper. Upon retiring, he and his wife settled in Silverhill, Alabama to enjoy his well-deserved retirement years.
Throughout his life, Billie was known for his friendly nature and infectious smile. His warm demeanor made him a joy to be around. Billie enjoyed golfing, fishing, Alabama football, and the Atlanta Braves.
Billie is preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Elliott Pierce; son, David Pierce; parents, Vernon and Virginia Pierce; and brother, Cecil Pierce.
Billie's memory will forever be treasured by his surviving family members and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Sherrie Pierce; brother, Vernon Pierce; close family friend, Amy Butcher; as well as other relatives and friends who were fortunate enough to have shared moments of laughter and love with him.
Services will be held in honor of Billie at Freeman Funeral Home. A visitation will take place on July 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Burial immediately after in Gulfcrest Cemetery.
Billie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
