Burl "Papa" Sullivan, age 86, a native of Washington County and resident of Mount Vernon died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at a local healthcare facility. He was a member of St. Thomas Assembly of God. He was a retired shipfitter. He Served in the Navy during World War II. He is preceded in death by his son, Ernest Sullivan. He is survived by his wife, Leona Sullivan of Mt. Vernon; Two Sons, Dock Andrew Sullivan of Citronelle and Tom Smith of Mount Vernon; One Daughter, Pauline Chestang of Mt. Vernon; Three Stepsons, James H. Weaver of Louisiana, David Weaver of Fairford, and Ronnie L. Weaver of Citronelle; Two Stepdaughters, Jewel Weaver and Betty Byrd, both of Mount Vernon; Fifteen Grandchildren, Twenty Great Grandchildren, and numerous Great-great Grandchildren; And many other relatives and friends. A Wake will be from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Freeman Funeral Home in Citronelle. The Funeral service will be at St. Thomas Assembly of God at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 19, 2009 with Rev. Paul Chestang, Rev. Eddie Rivers and Rev. Eddie Stringfellow officiating.
