Obituary
Cecil Robert Langley passed away on August 5, 2023 at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on July 5, 1946, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, Cecil's life was characterized by hard work, love for family and friends, and a passion for fishing.
Cecil grew up as the only child with his parents, Joe and Ona Ruth Langley. He cherished the values instilled in him by his parents and carried them throughout his life. After graduating from Satsuma High School, Cecil embarked on a successful career at Scott Paper Company. His commitment and dedication to his work earned him the respect of colleagues and superiors alike.
Cecil had a deep love for the outdoors. His favorite pastime was fishing in lakes and on the river. The serene waters of Three River Lake held a special place in his heart, where he found joy in catching bream and white perch. Cecil's passion for fishing was infectious, bringing delight to those who joined him on these memorable adventures.
On August 9th, 2023, family and friends will come together to pay their respects to Cecil during two solemn events. The visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at Freeman Funeral Home. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at the same location with Brother Marlon Huffmaster officiating. Interment will follow at West Shady Grove Cemetery. These gatherings will provide an opportunity for loved ones to reminisce about Cecil's life and find solace in one another's presence.
Pallbearers will be Jason Stewart, CJ Langley, Caleb Stewart, Nathan Langley, Brandon Langley and David King.
Cecil leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be cherished by those who survive him. He is survived by his children: Kathy Robbins (Darin), Cary Langley (Bonnie), Kelly Ralls (Lynn), and Joey Langley (Pam). Cecil was also a proud grandfather to Jason Stewart (Paige), Brittany Teel (Casey), CJ Langley (Kathrine), Caleb Stewart (Anna-Marie), Nathan Langley, Meagan Langley, Katherine Finley, and Brandon Langley. The family is most grateful for their life long family friend, Brigitte Bowden. The joy and happiness Cecil brought to their lives will forever be cherished. Furthermore, Cecil leaves behind nine great-grandchildren who will carry his memory with them.
Cecil was preceded in death by his extraordinary wife of 52 years, Jewel Langley; and parents, Joe and Ona Ruth Langley.
Cecil Robert Langley was a hardworking man whose dedication to his work and love for his family and friends will always be remembered. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell to Cecil, let us find solace in the memories we shared and celebrate a life well-lived.
