Charles Edward Odom, Sr., a native of Uriah, Alabama, and a longtime resident of Turnerville, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020. He was 93 years old. Charles was a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II and served in the Pacific Campaign and in Occupied Japan. Charles gave his life to the Lord in 1953 and his life was his testimony. Charles was a very kind and caring man who was always willing to help anybody that needed it. Charles was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. Most of all, Charles loved spending time with his family. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Susie Odom; brothers, Leonard, Earlie, and J.W. Odom; his wife of 50 years, Jeanette Crosby Odom; and son, Charles E. Odom Jr. “Chuck”. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 19 years, Nancy Odom; daughter, Teresa (William) Herring; son, Paul (Angie) Odom; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Odom; step-children, Lisa Mizell, Matt Mizell, Lavern Mizell; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; sister, Ruby Odom; and a host of other nieces, nephews, church family, and friends. A graveside service will be held for Charles 10am Friday, March 27, 2020, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Dees and Rev. Marlon Robinson officiating.
