Charles Vernon Fleming, born on December 30, 1938, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at USA Health Providence Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather whose life was marked by devotion to family, humor, and passion for his hobbies.
Charles retired as a technician from Armstrong World, where he left a lasting impression on his colleagues through his funny and outspoken nature. He served his country proudly in the Navy, epitomizing the values of dedication and service.
He was lovingly spoiled by his wife of 26 years, Angele Fleming, who stood by him as a steadfast partner. Charles took immense pride in his family, considering them his proudest accomplishment. He is survived by his wife, Angele Fleming; daughters, Charlene Saranthus and Tammy Walker (Wade); step-son, Lee Smith (Kathy); and grandchildren, Marcus Saranthus (Keri), Jennifer Willis (Ryan), Wade Walker, Jr. (Hallie), Victoria Tillman (Nick), Taylor Wilbur (Mason), Lacie Smith, and Macie Hollinghead (Garrett). He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
Charles was a devoted car lover who found joy in Street Rodding, making countless friends within the community. His passion extended to NASCAR and football; whether enjoying races or games on television, or spending time in his spacious garage rebuilding Street Rods with friends, he embraced life with boundless enthusiasm.
Charles will be remembered not only for his generous spirit but also for the love and laughter he brought to those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Grace and Robert Long; his father, Charles Lamar Fleming; his brother, George Fleming; and his son-in-law, Harold Saranthus, Jr.
A visitation will be held at Freeman Funeral Home on January 23, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Cemetery in Leakesville, Mississippi, starting at 12:30 PM.
Charles Vernon Fleming leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a profound impact on the lives of many. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
