Charles Tillman Helveston, Sr., known by all as Tim Helveston, a native and resident of Charity Chapel, Alabama passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at USA Medical Center. Tim was born on July 29, 1947 to Ed and Rosa Lee Helveston. Tim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired from Alabama Power Company after 34 years of service. He was a dedicated member of Full Gospel Tabernacle Church. Tim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed raising cattle, gardening, traveling, fishing, spending time in the hayfield, and dancing. Tim was an excellent provider and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his four granddaughters. He catered to his grands and loved fixing his “special soup” or whatever they wanted to eat. Together, Tim and Sharon attended all school activities for Wendy, Chuck and the grandkids, and he loved coaching little league football and baseball. Tim was a “people person” and never met a stranger. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Sullivan; granddaughter, Krimson Sullivan; parents, Ed and Rosa Lee Helveston; and sister, Rose Ann Turner. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years, Sharon Helveston; son, Chuck Helveston (Ashley); grandchildren, Katelyn Sullivan, Kristen Sullivan, Jordan Helveston, and Jay Helveston; brother, John Helveston (Gail); sisters, Charlotte West (Mack) and Joyce Graves; other relatives and friends. The wake will be from 6-9pm Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11am Friday, July 13, 2018 at Full Gospel Tabernacle Church with Bro. Mike Reid and Bro. Thomas Downey officiating. Burial will be in Charity Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Chuck Hendry, Andy Cooper, Steven West, Jason Nelson, Ronnie Helveston, and T.J. Downey. Honorary pallbearers will be his coworkers and friends from Alabama Power Company. A special “thank you” to Mike and Judy Reid for their love and support for Tim and Sharon.
