Christopher Nelson Byrd

Christopher Nelson Byrd, beloved son, father, brother and friend, passed away on August 2, 2024. He was born on November 29, 1978, to Leo and Ramona Byrd. Chris touched the lives of many with his self nature and warm heart. He was known for being the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back and it was no surprise that he had an abundance of friends who cherished his presence. One of Chris' greatest joys in life was spending time with family and friends. 

Chris had a passion for football in all its forms. Whether he was watching it on TV or helping coach his son's teams, his love for the game shone through. In addition to football, Christopher had a wide range of hobbies and interests. From tinkering with things to restoring old items, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His willingness to help anyone in need endeared him to all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents Leo and Ramona Byrd; children Dominic Byrd (Chloe) and Alyssa Byrd; grandson, Malachi; sister, Kasey Weaver (Freddy), nieces and nephews - Braxton Weaver (Julian), Jackson Weaver, Jasmine Weaver, and Kayley Weaver; great niece and great nephew, Karolynn Faye and Little B; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins; along with other relatives and friends. 

Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ida and Villard Byrd and Fannie and David Byrd, as well as his fiancé, Ashley Nolan. 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Victor Ingalls and Father John Coghlan as celebrants. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery. 

Christopher Nelson Byrd will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace knowing that he brought light and love into the lives of those around him.
