Mr. Clifford E. “Bill” Stanley, 92, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, former resident of Citronelle, Alabama and current resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at his home. Mr. Stanley graduated from Citronelle High School in 1939 and was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in geology. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Cerignola, Italy with the 15th Air Force as a flight engineer on a B 24 Liberator with fifty combat missions. He worked at Brookley Field and retired from the United States Army Corps of Engineers as an engineering designer. Bill was also an accomplished artist and sculptor. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 71 years, Frances Stanley; son, Duane (Cheryl) Stanley; daughter, Diane (Barry) Woodward; grandchildren, Keith Stanley and Amy Woodward; brother-in-law, Franklin Wolfe; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until the 2 pm Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Len Chilton officiating.
