Clyde Alvis Smith, a resident of Citronelle, Alabama, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017, at Springhill Medical Center. He was 87 years old. Clyde was born May 16, 1930 to John and Annie Smith. After high school, Clyde served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Later, he received a Professional Degree in Pharmacy from University of Mississippi and owned and operated Citronelle Drug Store for nearly 30 years. Clyde was also on the board of directors for First Community Bank. He was active in his church and served as a deacon for many years. Clyde was an avid Ole Miss fan and loved to golf. He also loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Clyde was preceded in death by his precious wife of 55 years, Iwana Nutt; sister, Evelyn Smith Porter; and brother, Johnny Smith. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Pam Smith Patrick (Gary), Denise Smith Jeffus (Bob); four grandchildren, Jonathan Patrick (Morgan), Justin Jeffus (Kelly), Megan Patrick Whitehurst (Noel), and Whitney Jeffus Byrd (Matt); seven great grandchildren, Sadie, Zackary, Brooks, Tommy, Smith, Harrison, and Reagan; sisters, Margaret Johnson (Buddy) and Peggy McDill (Kendell); caregiver, Belinda Yell (Jake); and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 12pm until the 2pm funeral service Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Restoration Church with Rev. Louie Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
