Curtis Eugene Byrd, 78, a native and resident of Citronelle, Alabama passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a United States Army Veteran and member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Curtis retired from CSX Railroad as Division Chief of Police with over 35 years of service. He was a deputy with the Mobile County Sheriffs’ Department prior to his employment with CSX. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, but most of all spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Byrd; son, Mitchell Byrd; brothers, Marion Byrd, Homer Byrd, Ervin Byrd, Elton Byrd; sister, Ethelyne Powell. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carolyn Byrd; children, Terri (Larry) Jordan, Stephen (Cyndi) Byrd, Jeanna (Gene) Martin and Lana (Darrell) Davis; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; brother, Lonnie (Marlaine) Byrd; sister-in-law, Wanda Byrd; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 10am until the 12pm funeral service on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Robinson officiating.
