Darby Benard Weaver, Sr., a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away Saturday, October 02, 2021, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He was 82 years old. Darby was a lifelong member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army for two years and was a Riverboat Pilot for 30 years. He was also a devoted member of American Legion Post 164 in Citronelle where he honorably served on the Honor Guard.
Darby was preceded in death by wife, Peggy Weaver; parents, Hiram and Sallie Weaver; and siblings, Josiah Weaver, Louisa Rivers, Marie Sullivan, Annie Irene Weaver, Sophie Lofton, Magdeline Schaffer, and Sterling Weaver.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Noel DeBouver, III (JoAnn), Darbina Weaver (Jeff), and Darbie Ann Phillis (Andrew); grandchildren, Jerrell Byrd, Jr., Joseph Byrd, Ian Phillis, Aleigha Phillis, Madison Phillis, William McClain, Richard DeBouver, IV, Joshua DeBouver, Daniel DeBouver, Sarah DeBouver, Jeff Weaver, Jr., Pryia Weaver, and Karenton Weaver; great grandchildren, Emma, Jax, Kamden, and Scarlett; sister, Levert Lofton (Bill); special nieces, Jo Siah Rivers and Octavia Collins (Chad); special nephew, Charles Weaver; and other relatives and friends.
A wake will be held for Darby from 6pm until 9pm Friday, October 08, 2021, at Freeman Funeral Home. Rosary will begin at 5:45 PM. Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10am Saturday, October 09, 2021, at Saint Theresa Catholic Church with Rev. John Coghlan, celebrant. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery.
