Darrell Neal Middleton II, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on April 16, 2025, at Ochsner's Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. Born on October 17, 1970, Darrell was a dedicated and passionate professional in the computer medical field, where he spent over 15 years setting up hospitals and training doctors and nurses on medical software. His career allowed him the opportunity to travel the world with his company, enriching his life and the lives of those around him.
Darrell’s personality was one that easily drew people in; if you knew him, you loved him. He never met a stranger and had a natural ability to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated. His humor, loving nature, and outgoing spirit left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
He cherished spending time with his family and friends and had a particular fondness for animals, including his beloved pets: Jaxx, Jug Head, and Lil Bit. An avid enthusiast of music, Darrell greatly enjoyed attending concerts and was always one to celebrate occasions such as Mardi Gras with glee. In his free time, he loved relaxing by his pool, creating joyful memories with loved ones.
Darrell's family includes his mother, Betty Robinson; father, Neal Middleton, Sr. (Beverly); sister, Michelle Wilson (Rodger); special friend, Howie Cuevas; step-sisters, Misty Lynd (Darrell) and Jessica Entrekin; and many nieces and nephews including Leighton Taylor (Melissa), Sidney Lynd, Cadyn Lynd, Kennedy Byrd (Brandon), Haylee Springer (Samuel), and Madison Lynd. He also had great-nephews and great-nieces, Brantley Byrd and Kyler Byrd, along with a wide circle of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold N. and Ruth Middleton, Walter B. and Juanita Simison; aunt and uncle, Donna Simison Hartley and Jerry Wade Middleton; and cousin, Roy G. Stewart.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Ochsner's Transplant Team, Dr. Desai and her transplant team, as well as RN Raylene Vasquez and Phyllis Tenney at the hospital for their unwavering support during this time. They would also like to thank Dr. Jason Valentine at Diagnostic and Medical Clinic in Saraland, AL.
A visitation will be held on April 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 18890 St. Stephens Road, Mount Vernon, AL 36560, with Bro. Donnie Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Community Cemetery. He will be remembered by all who knew him, as his spirit truly lived to connect and uplift those around him.
Pallbearers will be: Rodger Wilson, Race Bryan, Larry Weaver, Brandon Byrd, Paul Young, and Keith Middleton. Honorary pallbearers will be: Curt Stagner, Leighton Taylor, and Harold Middleton.
