Donnie Hugh Martin

Mr. Donnie Hugh Martin, 75, a native of Freeport, Florida and resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at a local healthcare facility. He retired after 40 years as a crane operator with Martin Marietta. He enjoyed fishing, classic cars and spending time outdoors. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Jordan and Mattie Shaw Martin; son, Noel Martin; two brothers, Conley (Montez) Martin and Robert (Toss) Martin. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Dorothy Taylor Martin; daughter, Donna (Bruce) Brockel; step-children, Pam (Mike) Madero, Ronnie (Gerry) Orso, Richard Orso and Bobby (Darlene) Hughes, Jr.; brother, Colin (Frances) Martin; three sisters, Alberta Settlemire, Paulette (Don) Davis and Linda (Redgie) White; sister-in-law, Doris Martin; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The wake will be from 6-9 pm Monday, October 20, 2014 at Freeman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 1 pm Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from the chapel of Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Barnhill and Sister Ann Baker officiating. Burial will be in Pine Crest West Cemetery - 1599 Snow Road, Mobile, Alabama 36695.
