Earl Bluford Pugh

March 14, 1933 — October 28, 2024

McIntosh, Alabama

Earl Bluford "Papa" Pugh, born on March 14, 1933, in Coffeeville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on October 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband father, grandfather, and a member of his community.

Earl dedicated a significant part of his life to his career as a pipefitter and welder at Syngenta, where he enjoyed many years before his retirement. It was integral to his identity, blending craftsmanship with a commitment to excellence.

His personality shone brightly through his family-oriented nature, compassion, and ability to connect with people. Earl never met a stranger and was known for his Godly and loving spirit, leaving an impression on all those fortunate enough to cross his path. He took great pride in being a 55-year member of the Joe Southhall Lodge #905 of Free and Accepted Masons of Alabama. Additionally, he played a significant role in his faith community as an Honorary Deacon of Liberty Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Earl was also an avid gardener who cherished his flowering plants. His love for nature was matched only by his enthusiasm for travel and mission work, which he shared with his beloved wife of 68 years, Bernice Pugh.

Earl is survived by his loving wife, Bernice Pugh; his children, Peggy Pugh Haselmaier and Larry Earl Pugh (Dianne); grandchildren, Valerie Haselmaier Gardner (Devin), Jessica Haselmaier Smith, Whitney Haselmaier, Amber Montemayor (David), Alicia Pugh Clark (DeWitt), and Brad Pugh (Cassie); great grandchildren, Noah, Hartleigh, AnneMarie, Blair, Catherine, Conner, Amelia, Mikayla, Dylan, Brooklyn, Dawson, Starr, Chloe, Peyton, and Jewel; and great-great grandson, Kendall. He is also survived by his siblings, Dorothy Jones, Betty Allday, and Mary Hinson (Bobby), along with many other relatives and friends who will remember him fondly.

Earl was preceded by his parents, Albert B. and Viola Mauldin Pugh; his grandson, LE Pugh; and his siblings, Burnard Pugh, Eunice Gunter, Leola Smith, and Jewel Beverly.
