Esther R Byrd

Esther Byrd, 78, a native of Mount Vernon, Al, and a resident of Citronelle Al, went to her eternal home Tuesday, August 23, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. She was born August 28, 1943, to David Crockett and Rosa Rivers. She was raised by her aunt, Annie Lee Byrd. She retired from Searcy Hospital as a nurse after 20 years. She enjoyed going to church, playing the piano, and spending time with family and friends.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, David Crockett, and Rosa Rivers; husband, Tyrone Byrd, Sr.; sister, Sophie Reed; brothers, Jim Rivers, McKinley Rivers, Sancer ''Sugar John'' Rivers, Jack Rivers, Ed Lewis Rivers, Clifford Rivers, and George McCary Lipscomb.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Frances Weaver (Don), Phyllis Lester (David), and Tyrone Byrd (Tracy); 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Crany Lofton, Ola Sullivan (Carl), and Maggie James; brother, Hyrom Rivers (Joann); bonus sisters, Lois and Betty Hopkins; other relatives; and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10am until the 11am funeral service Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Shaw officiating.
