Eunice Irene Green

December 28, 1929 — July 29, 2015

Eunice Irene Gartman Green, 85, a native and resident of Citronelle, Alabama passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. She worked as a cashier at Greers Grocery Store for many years and was known for making the best barbeque sandwich around. Later, she ran and managed at Sam’s Pit Stop and was known as “Granny Green”. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and served on various committees. She enjoyed having lunch and playing bingo at the Citronelle Senior Citizens, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with all her friends and was known as “Mama”. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Turner Green; parents, Cecil Harold and Mamie Beatrice Gartman; brothers, John “Red” (Alice Pearl) Gartman, Donald Gartman, Harold Gartman and Kenneth Gartman. Left to cherish her memory is daughter, Beatrice (Aden) Thomas; two sons, Alfred (Glenda) Green and Sammy (Rita) Green; eight grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; brother, David (Predeta) Gartman; sister-in-law, Ann Gartman; other relatives and friends. The wake will be from 6-8 pm on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral service will be 10 am Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Stan Clayton and Rev. Dino Danzey officiating. Burial will follow in Turnerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be given at www.freemancitronelle.com.
