Frances Faye Byrd

Mrs. Frances Byrd, 81, passed away at her home in Leakesville, on Saturday, March 05, 2016. She was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church as well as a member of the Eastern Star. She retired from the Mississippi State Board of Health after being employed there for 25 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Cecil D. Byrd; parents, Tommie and Morie Blankinchip; and her brother, Tommie E. Blankinchip, Jr.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Cecilia Faye (Mack) Douglas, Patricia Darleen (Donnie) Helton, both of Leakesville, and Frances Lynne (Gary) Brown of Citronelle; 1 brother, Marvin (Daisy) Blankinchip of Leakesville; 7 grandchildren, Lori Smith of Australia, Chad and Brett Helton, both of Leakesville, Jody Brown, of Citronelle, Beth Rodrigues of Daphne, AL, Dawn Flowers of Bay St. Louis, MS, and Chase Douglas of Richland, MS; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2015 at 12 pm with a visitation prior to the service, beginning at 10 am at Freeman Funeral Home in Leakesville, Mississippi. The internment will be at the Cecil Byrd Cemetery with Rev. Dawn Douglas Flowers officiating. In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gideons International for Bibles.
