Franklin Emmett (Frank) Lott, a life-long resident of Mobile Co., passed away on Saturday January 7, 2012 at age 85. Mr. Lott was born on May 15, 1926. He was a resident of the Citronelle, AL area since 1973. Mr. Lott is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Peterson Lott, son Stephen Lott of Citronelle, AL, son Jeffrey Lott of Wetumpka, AL daughter, Leah L. Gill of Mobile, AL and grandchildren Ashley Lott, Madelyn Claire Lott, Matthew Wood, Sean Gill, Ryan Gill and Lindsay Lott, and sister Voncile Robinson. Mr. Lott was preceded in death by his brothers Dennis Lott, J. C. Lott, and J. R. Lott and his sisters, Myrtle Lott, Lucille Lott, Meriam Blackburn, Pauline Cantey, Mae Prutilpac, and Gladys Byrd, along with his beloved grandson, Stephen F. Lott, Jr. Franklin was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II, where he served as a Seaman First Class/Radioman on the heavy cruiser USS Augusta toward the end of the war. He was serving on the Augusta when it left port in Hampton Roads, VA on July 7, 1945 with President Harry Truman on board who was attending the Potsdam Conference in Germany with other leaders. Mr. Lott served in the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign War, Post 3550 of Eight Mile, AL, and was a former member of the Mobile County Sheriff's Posse. Franklin was a proud and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities, and also enjoyed spending time at his cabin on the Bon Secour river in Baldwin Co. A wake will be held at Freeman Funeral Home Sunday January 8, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Citronelle, on Monday January 9th at 11:00. Interment will be at the Lott Cemetery in Mobile County near Citronelle.
