Gamage Bender “Jack: Rivers, Jr., a resident of McIntosh, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, July 06, 2021. He was 71 years old, born July 23, 1949. Jack served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After serving, he became Deputy Sheriff and later, County Commissioner of Washington County before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren, who will greatly miss him. Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father, Gamage and Josephine Rivers; son, Jack Eric Rivers; brother, Willard Rivers; and sister, Florence Johnston. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Sheila Rivers, Jessie Taylor, and Liberty Taylor; grandchildren, Wallace Schaffer, Jr., Jack Schaffer, Keith Agee, Khi’ah Agee, Tyler Pollard, and Kirsten Weaver; brothers, Pete Rivers, John Rivers, Gary Rivers, Dale Rivers, and Luke Rivers; and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the 2pm funeral service Monday, July 12, 2021, at Reed’s Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Reed’s Chapel Cemetery.
