Garnie Arnett Nelson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. Born on February 24, 1941 Garnie lived a vibrant life filled with love and devotion to her family and her church community.

Garnie was known for her very outgoing personality, exemplifying beauty both on the inside and outside. Her presence would light up a room, and her love for life was evident in everything she did. A talented cook and a gifted musician, she delighted many with her beautiful singing. Garnie's love for her church family was unparalleled, and she found joy in sharing her talents within the walls of Charity Chapel Assembly of God Church, where she was a cherished member.

She is survived by her children, Vance Nelson (Nancy) and Claretta Reed (Freddie), who carry on her legacy of love and commitment to family. Garnie was also a doting grandmother to her grandchildren, Devoria Greene (Jessy), Hillary Zehner (Sean), Michael Reed (Ashley), Brianna Nelson-Griffey (Dalton), and Talon Reed. Her great-grandchildren, Alex, Jenna, Mazleigh, Brenten, Ensleigh, and Ramsey, brought her immense joy and pride. Garnie is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie Reed, Nadine Byrd, and Reyna Davis; brother-in-law, Larry Poston; sister-in-law, Johnnie V. Reed; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will remember her fondly.

Garnie was preceded in death by her husband, Talmage Nelson, whose memory she cherished dearly, her parents, Early "Van" and Ruth Reed, and her siblings, Framon Reed, Raymond Reed (Dotsy), and Una Poston.

Her proudest accomplishments were always centered around her time spent with family and friends, creating countless memories that will live on in the hearts of those she loved. 

A wake will be held Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place the next day, Monday, November 4, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Charity Chapel Assembly of God Church with Bro. Wilbert Reed, Bro. Eddie Rivers, Bro. Sammy Rivers, Bro. Doug Fairchild, and Bro. Mike Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Charity Chapel Cemetery. 

Garnie Arnett Nelson leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an indelible spirit that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
