Gene C. “Nicky” Byrd, 54, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at his residence in Mount Vernon, AL. Nicky was a retired truck driver and member of Hickory Grove Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by a longtime companion Linda Roberts. He leave to cherish his memory his children, Kimberly Cooper, Danielle Waltman and Sheena Byrd; 7 grandchildren; siblings, Vernell (Ricky) Douglas; Debra (Marvin) Lofton, Samantha (Marvin) Lofton, Wayne (Carol) Evans, Darlene Evans and Anthony (Stacey) Evans; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 10am until the 11am funeral service at Hickory Grove Holiness Church with Rev. Robert Byrd officiating.
