George Chestang, a man who dedicated 45 years of his life to the logging industry, passed away on March 16, 2024, at Springhill Memorial Hospital. Born on March 14, 1963, George leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
George's love for logging was not just a career but a passion that defined him. His dedication and hard work in the field served as an inspiration to many. Beyond his professional life, George found joy in being an avid Alabama football fan and most importantly, in spending quality time with his beloved family and friends.
Surrounded by his loving family, George peacefully departed this world, leaving behind cherished memories and invaluable lessons. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
George is survived by his children, Ashley Chestang (Jimmy), Daniel Chestang, and Daniel Keith Taylor (Jayla); grandchildren, Pamela Nicole Byrd (LaShun) and Mason Byrd; his mother, Martha Sullivan; sisters, Diane Sullivan (Joe), Linda Smith (Aubrey), Kaye Daniel (Michael); a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Norman Chestang.
A visitation in memory of George will be held on March 19, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Magnolia Holiness Church. The funeral service to honor his life will take place the following day at the same location on March 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Bro. Ike Reed and Bro. Joe Sullivan officiating. Burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
George's presence will be deeply missed but his spirit will continue to live on through the memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace knowing he was loved and respected by many.
