George Edward Goldman, 73, a native of Chatom, Alabama and resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Springhill Medical Center. He was born on March 30, 1947 to Claude Dewight and Louise Goldman. Ed enlisted in the Alabama National Guard after graduating from Chatom High School and served many communities as a police officer in Chatom, Alabama and Waynesboro, Mississippi. He also was a deputy sheriff for Choctaw County, Alabama. Ed retired in 2004 as police officer from the town of Mount Vernon and at Searcy Hospital. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Johnny Goldman and Sammy Goldman; and wife, Anita Roberts Goldman. Those left to cherish his memory includes his children, Tracy Goldman (Chasity), Lynn Smith (Brent), Jason Goldman and Chason Ashworth (Ashlie); grandchildren, Dustin Allen, E’Laina Goldman, Nick Allen, Kassidy Roney, Gavin Goldman, Allie Goldman, Ravyn Ashworth, Arianna Ashworth, Hope Johnston and Max Ashworth; two great grandchildren, Kyndall and Molly; siblings, Louise Wheat, Jimmy Goldman (Pat) and Danny Goldman (Brenda); other relatives and friends. The graveside service will be at 10am on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery in Hobson, Alabama with Bro. Mitchell Smith officiating.
