George Thomas Rivers, Jr. “Manny Mo”, a resident of Mount Vernon, passed away at his home on Monday, October 21, 2019. He was 65 years old. Manny Mo was born December 27, 1953. He enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting and spending time with his family and friends. Manny Mo was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Vermell Rivers; parents, George and Louise Rivers; siblings, Darlene Rivers, Charlotte Rivers, Opra Davis, and Jeannie Williams. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Vicky Smith; children, Annie Reed, Walter Davis, Darla Brewington, Rita Brewer, Ashley Davis, Sheila Smith, Victoria Smith, Yasmine Smith, and Blake Smith; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Richard Davis (Ola), Bill Davis (Cassie), Kevin Rivers (Sherry), and Tiny Rivers; mother in law, Peggy Ann Byrd; a host of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. A wake will be held for Manny Mo from 6pm until 9pm Thursday, October 24, 2019, at Freeman Funeral Home. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11am Friday, October 25, 2019, at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Rev. John Coghlan, celebrant. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery.
