Gladstone Trotter, Sr.

October 25, 1911 — March 24, 2018

Celebrating the life and legacy of Mr. Gladstone Trotter Sr. the son, brother, husband, father and friend who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed being with family and friends. He believed everyone should have an opportunity to be successful and lent his support to assist in any way he could.

Gladstone Trotter Sr. was born on October 25, 1911 in Citronelle, Alabama to the union of Joe and Mary Jane Oliver Trotter. Gladstone was the youngest of 13 children, 12 of which preceded him in death. He worked at the shipyard for a short length of time until his grandmother bought him a car and persuaded him to start cab driving. He did this for many, many years until he retired in ??????.

One day Mr. Trotter saw Ms. Ardell McKinnis walking downtown Citronelle. He told her that "You are going to be my wife". They were married for 72 years until the Lord called her home on August 18, 2004, and to that union were seven children.

Mr. Trotter always talked about how he could cut a rug(dance) and his favorite tv show was Lawrence Welks on Saturday night at 7pm. He never missed it. He also watched Jimmy Swaggart daily. He had a love for sports especially baseball.

He leaves five children to cherish his memories, Betty; Ola; Gladstone Jr. (Jazelle); Robert (Florence); Clara (Johnny) and two preceded him in death: Hattie and Samuel Trotter; Sixteen Grandchildren, Johnny (Dana), Pamela, Yvonne (Rickey), Sharon (Warren), Tanya, Curtis (Marcella), Aaron, Felecia, Daniel, Kimberly, Terry, Keith, Rhonda (Joe), Tamico, Jason and Tasha; Forty Two Great Grandchildren; Twenty Four Great Great Grandchildren; Five Grandchildren Preceded him in death, Darryl Trotter (16), Tammy Carr (23), Jimmy Green (18), Alexis Trotter (21) and Mark Trotter (51). Mr. Trotter in his later years appreciated his brother Henry Trotter, children love and sustaining support, especially Doris Trotter who always answered the phone.
