Gladys Ruth Walker

February 12, 1919 — April 17, 2016

Gladys Ruth Walker, 97, a native of Rockingham, NC and longtime resident of Citronelle, AL died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Springhill Medical Center. She retired from Mobile Infirmary Hospital (3NW) as an LPN, remained an active member of First Baptist Church of Citronelle, Women’s Club of America, and Citronelle Garden Club. She enjoyed tending her gardens, be it her family, patients, those in need or beautiful flowers in her yard for all to enjoy. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Edward Walker; brothers, Jessie O. (Bud), James A., Hoyle R. and Harold “Sonny” Snypes and sisters, Mildred Motz and Doris V. Snypes PhD. She is survived by four sons, Henry E. (Eddie), Steven M., J. Douglas and Gary D. Walker; two daughters, Karen S. and Beth Walker; two sisters Colleen Hardin and Shirley Snypes; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; extended family, relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 10am First Baptist Church of Citronelle, followed by the funeral service at 11am with the Rev. John Blackwell and Dr. Elbert Charpie officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery, Citronelle, Al. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Gladys’ wish was for donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Citronelle building fund.
