Gwendolyn P Croom

Gwendolyn P. Croom, a dedicated educator who retired from the Mobile County Public School System after 25 years of service at Citronelle High School, has passed away on July 1, 2024. She was born on December 29, 1957.

Known for her caring and loving personality, Gwen touched the lives of countless students and colleagues during her time as a teacher. Her passion for education and unwavering dedication will be remembered by all who knew her.

Gwen's family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on July 5, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father John Coghlan officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Croom; children Jeremy Croom (Shea), Josh Croom, and Jake Croom (Jamie); grandchildren Jaden, Ben, Carson, Dylan, Sydney, and Juliana; as well as siblings Ronnie Parnell (Pam), Stan Parnell (Lucy), and Donna Erving. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Mack Parnell and Mellie Parnell.

In her free time, Gwen enjoyed being an avid reader, watching the Atlanta Braves play, spending quality time with her grandchildren, and taking pleasure in gardening.

She leaves behind cherished memories that will be forever treasured by her family and friends. Gwen's legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on through those whose lives she has touched.
