Helen  Louise Brewer

Helen Louise Brewer, passed away at her home on July 23, 2014 at the age of 92. She was born March 10, 1922 to the late Glen and Maude Smith in Chicora, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, "L.J." Burie Brewer, Jr., son, B. Judson Brewer, daughter, Barbara Lynne Davis, foster daughter, Debra Harper Gibson, and grandson, Raymond Lamar Quinn. Helen was always a very industrious person. Beginning with selling milk and eggs from her home to picking and selling peas well into her 80's. Along the way Helen was employed by Scott Paper Company before becoming a licensed insurance agent. After retiring "Miss" Helen began living out her life's motto, "Serving is loving". She was a charter member and served as the first President of Mobile's Widowed Persons Service. "Miss" Helen was also a charter member and faithful servant of her church Turnerville Baptist. Always living by a strong faith and believed in serving God wherever you were. It was with this faith and belief in God that she and L.J. raised their children. She is survived by her oldest son, Larry J. (Barbara) Brewer, Sr., and five daughters. Beverly J. (John) Quinn, Betty L (Dr. Steven) Moehle, Bonnie A. (Skip) Palmer, Blondie B. (Leonard) Pritchett and, Billie Faye (Ernest) DeView, 18 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 12pm until the 1pm funeral service at Turnerville Baptist Church with burial to follow at Turnerville Cemetery. The family would also the add a special thanks to Bertha Kennedy and Shelia Cooley of Southern Care Hospice. Both ladies displayed respect, love, and instruction beyond measure.
