Herbert J. Malone, Sr., 93, a native of Gulfcrest, Alabama, lived in Citronelle, Alabama until 2007 when he moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama passed away May 26, 2013 at his home. Mr. Malone served in the United States Army during World War II and was employed with Brookley Air Force Base for 26 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by grandson, Michael L. Malone; Great Granddaughter, Leah Malone; parents, Jesse and Alice Malone; six brothers and two sisters. Survived by his wife of 70 years, Bernice Byrd Malone; daughters, Carolyn Doughty and Clarice Fretwell; son, Herbert J. (Bessie) Malone, Jr.; Seven grandchildren, Krissy Fretwell Blake, Paul (Jill) Doughty, Michelle Doughty, Karen (Jeff) Deakins, Nicole (John) Turberville, Wilton (Naomi) Fretwell and Jessica (Michael) Newton; ten great grandchildren, Jordan Blake, Rhett Blake, Malone Doughty, Sarah Deakins, Cole Deakins, Caroline Turberville, Mackenzie Morrison, John Bryars Turberville, Grant Fretwell and Aubrey Newton; sister, Jeanette Cabiness; other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Michael L Malone Memorial Law Enforcement Scholarship Fund at PO Box 1600, Foley, AL 36536.
