Howard Wallace Blackburn, Jr. passed away on July 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family and country. Howard was born on October 25, 1947, and throughout his life, he exemplified values of being family-oriented, loving, kind, and welcoming to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path.
In his professional life, Howard dedicated 45 years as a data base administrator and engineer. His commitment to his work was unwavering, and he left a mark on all those he worked with throughout the years.
Howard's patriotism shone through not only in his career but also in his military service as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force for 6 years. He was immensely proud of his country and grateful for the opportunity to serve.
Outside of work and service, Howard found joy in being a homebody and pursuing various crafty hobbies. His love for his country was evident in all aspects of his life.
Among Howard's proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren. He cherished spending time with them and imparting wisdom while creating lasting memories together.
Howard was a faithful follower of Christ. He served by singing, teaching, being a deacon, and going on mission trips.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Aline Blackburn; brother, Paul Blackburn; sister, Sheila Rexford; and son-in-law, Frank Toews IV. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Howard leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Charlotte Blackburn; daughters, Kymberly B. Jensen (Timothy) and Tiffany B Toews; grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob (Kirsten), Aline, Aynsley, Tabitha (Dylan), Alyson, Ezekiel, Teagan, Esther, Loewen, Susanna, Sophia, Jubilee, and Calysta; great-grandson, Matthias; sister, Doris Gukich (Robert); 12 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity.
Services to celebrate Howard's life will be held at New Home Baptist Church on Saturday, July 13, 2024. The visitation will begin at 10:30 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Timothy Jensen, Rev. Jeff Bryan, and Rev. Floyd Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Brannan Cemetery.
It is a time to honor a remarkable individual whose kindness and love will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
