Howard Wallace Blackburn, Sr., 89, of Lake Wales, FL passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012. He was born October 3, 1922 in Toulminville, AL to the late Howard & Irene Brannan Blackburn. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Air Corps as 2nd Lieutenant and retired from AT&T. Mr. Blackburn was an active member of First Baptist Church of Orlando and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Citronelle. Wallace was preceded in death by his wife, Aline Porter Blackburn; daughter, Sheila Derryberry and son, Paul S. Blackburn; siblings, Vivian Welford, Harrison Blackburn, Harold Blackburn and Gerald Blackburn. He is survived by his daughter, Doris (Robert) Gukich; son, Howard W. (Charlotte) Blackburn, Jr.; daughter in law, Charlotte Blackburn Lightsey; eleven grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 12 pm until the 2 pm Funeral Service at his residence located at 16970 Brannan Fork Road, Citronelle, AL 36522. Interment will be in Brannan Cemetery.
