Ira Malcolm Rowell, a beloved member of the community passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, at Springhill Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family as he entered Heaven's gates.
Born on May 17, 1951, Malcolm lived a fulfilling life characterized by his warm and welcoming personality. Described as someone who never met a stranger, he exuded humility and kindness in all his interactions. His unwavering capacity to show unconditional love touched the lives of many. Malcolm was a faithful member of New Home Baptist Church. He found joy in simple pleasures such as hunting, especially turkey hunting, fishing, and farming. Malcolm took pride in selling homegrown fruits and vegetables to his community. Additionally, he cherished moments spent with his family and friends, often engaging in activities like piddling on old equipment.
One of Malcolm's proudest accomplishments in life was his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and admiration among those who knew him. Malcolm is survived by his children: Jay Rowell (Sonia), Barry Phillips (Angie), and Heather DeLapp (Jim); grandchildren: Toby, Connor, Zach, Kinley, Audrey, Lucy, and Townes; great-grandchildren: August and Juniper; brothers: George Rowell and Carl Rowell; loyal four-legged companion: Brody Rowell; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Rowell; son, Andin Paul Rowell; parents, Raymond and Ruth Rowell; siblings, Paul Gene Rowell, Cliff Rowell, Joe Rowell, Wesley Rowell, Bobby Rowell, and Ruth Ella Miller.
A wake will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at New Home Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location with Rev. Jeff Bryan and Rev. Tanner Rowell officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery.
Ira Malcolm Rowell will forever be remembered for his genuine spirit of kindness and the love he shared with all those around him. May he rest in peace knowing that he made a positive impact on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
