Jacqueline Yvonne Collins

October 20, 1941 — February 13, 2025

Jacqueline Yvonne Collins, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully entered into eternal rest at her home on February 13, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on October 20, 1941, Jacqueline lived a life filled with love, faith, and a commitment to her family and community.

Jacqueline graduated from Citronelle High School in 1960, where she laid the foundation for a life marked by service and devotion. At the tender age of 18, she married the love of her life, Leslie Ray Collins. Together, they raised their children in Citronelle, Alabama, before making the move to Washington County in 1972. Their journey took a wonderful turn when they relocated to Grove Hill in 1989, where they joyfully embraced their retirement years.

A faithful member of Peniel Baptist Church in the McVay community, Jacqueline was known for her warm spirit, unwavering faith, and commitment to her church family. Her connection to her friends brought her great joy, as she cherished the time spent with them, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Jacqueline’s interests were as vibrant as her personality; she had a profound love for flower gardening, indulging in the beauty of nature's creations, and her culinary skills brought happiness to many through her cooking. She shared her passion for life with every person fortunate enough to know her.

Jacqueline's pride and joy were her family, which included her husband, Leslie Ray Collins; their children, Connie Dailey (Kevin), Thad Collins (Diana), and Tray Collins; and her cherished grandchildren, Amy Dees (Brandon), Kacy Sloat (Justin), Josh Collins, Madisyn Collins, and McKenna Collins. She was also a beloved great-grandmother to Abigail Dees, Gracie Sloat, Josie Dees, and Fisher Sloat. Jacqueline was blessed with a dedicated and loving caregiver, Shanquater Watkins, who provided her support and companionship in her later years. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will miss her deeply.

Jacqueline was predeceased by her parents, Wade and Una Mae Gartman, as well as her two sisters, Janelle Walley (Lavern) and Judith Ann McKinnon (Herbert).

She was a shining example of love, resilience, and faith, and her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure to know her.

The family will receive friends from on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home in Citronelle, Alabama. A graveside service will be held 2:30 PM at Pine Crest Cemetery with Bro. Fred Odom officiating.
