James  Davis "J.D." Loper

December 2, 1927 — August 22, 2014

Mr. James Davis “J.D.” Loper, 86, a native and resident of Washington County, Alabama passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at his home. He was a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during World War II and during that time played exhibition baseball in Japan. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #164. He retired as a building superintendent at KBR and enjoyed gardening, hunting and sports in his spare time. Left to cherish his memory is wife of 61 years, Shirley J. Loper; children, James Robert Loper, Carolyn M. Barnard, Kenneth L. Loper, Alfred R. Loper and Elizabeth L. Nelson; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Pat Loper; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the 11 am funeral service on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Helveston officiating.
