James Hert George

James Hert George, a retired iron worker from Local 798, passed away on January 19, 2024, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. Born on January 3, 1935, James lived a full and accomplished life.

James had a deep love for his family and took great pride in his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He considered his children and grandchildren to be his proudest accomplishments in life.

Outside of work and family, James had a passion for the outdoors. He found solace in hunting and fishing, embracing the tranquility of nature. These hobbies allowed him to connect with the world around him and provided him with moments of peace. James was also an avid supporter of former President Donald Trump. His political beliefs were important to him and he was vocal in expressing his support for the former president.

James will be deeply missed by his children: Michael George, Donna Courtney (Ricky), James Mitchell George, Marsha Fore (Dusty), Christy Byrd (Horace Jr.). He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a multitude of nieces and nephews; as well as countless other relatives and friends who were touched by his warmth and kindness.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Joan M. George; grandson, Jonathan George, great-grandson, Colby Dobbins; parents, Wilson and Juanita George; brothers, Wilson George, Jr. and Robert Paul George. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

A visitation will be held on January 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the11:00 AM funeral service at Chunchula Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Turner officiating. Burial to follow in Gulfcrest Cemetery.

James Hert George will be remembered as a dedicated professional, a loving family man, and a passionate individual who embraced life with enthusiasm. His memory will forever bring smiles to the faces of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
