James Calvin Reed

James Calvin Reed, age 71, passed away on September 1, 2023, at Crowne Healthcare of Citronelle. He was born on June 10, 1952, to Lettie and Gene Reed in McIntosh, AL. James was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

James had a great sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He was known for his quick wit and ability to make people laugh. James also had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. One of his fondest memories was going hunting with his family. It was during these moments that he cherished the time spent with loved ones and created lasting memories.

The visitation and funeral service to honor James's life will be held at Hillspring Holiness Church located at 4203 John Johnston Road in McIntosh, AL. The visitation will take place on September 7, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Hillspring Cemetery with Brother Donnie Williamson officiating.

James is survived by his son, Brett Reed (Tammy); his brother, Lester Reed (Charlette); his sister, Tammy Newburn (Wayne); and his grandchildren, Derrick Reed (Ashley), Colby Reed (Kaitlyn), Aaron Reed (Shawnee), and Kevin Reed. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Libbie Reed as well as a host of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Lettie and Gene Reed; his sister, Colleen Reed; and his brother, Armon Reed.

We celebrate the life of James Calvin Reed and hold onto the memories we shared with him. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished moments.
