James Larry Reid, affectionately known as "Larry," passed away on July 23, 2024 at his home, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew him. He was born on February 1, 1941, and throughout his life, he made a significant impact both professionally and personally.
Larry dedicated over 20 years of his life to the Forestry Industry, where he excelled as an equipment operator. His commitment and hard work in this field were commendable, earning him the respect of his colleagues and peers.
Aside from his successful career, Larry was known for his fun-loving and caring personality. He had a sweet and loving nature that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His hobbies included farming, tending to his cows, watching westerns, passionately supporting Alabama football, and most of all, spending quality time with his beloved grandchildren.
One of Larry's proudest accomplishments was his family. He leaves behind a loving family that meant the world to him. Larry is preceded in death by his parents George Harry Reid and Lillie Mildred Greer; siblings, George Elliehue, Myrdis Reid, Nadine Patrick, Meril Reid; and granddaughter, Christen Len Beech.
Larry is survived by his children, Kelly Beech Overstreet (Martis) and James G. Reid; siblings, Reita R. Johnston (Ricky) and Paul Reid; grandchildren, Natasha Beech, Richard Weaver, and Michael Weaver; great grandchildren, Seth, Caylee, Olivia, Ember, Jace, Kayce, and Carla Grace Aaron, and Aneas; His memory will also be cherished by a host of other family members and friends.
A visitation in honor of Larry will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Full Gospel Tabernacle from 10:30 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Bro. Mike Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Charity Chapel Cemetery. The services will serve as a celebration of Larry's life and the impact he had on all those around him.
James Larry Reid's presence will be deeply missed; however, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace knowing that he was loved and respected by many.
