Jamie Reed Byrd

March 14, 1965 — December 31, 2023

Jamie Reed Byrd, an incredible soul who touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully at her home on December 31, 2023. She was a loving and caring individual, known for her warm heart and infectious laughter. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her.

Born on March 14, 1965, Jamie Reed Byrd was the beloved daughter of James and Virginia Reed. She grew up alongside her eight siblings, forming unbreakable bonds that would last a lifetime. Jamie was a beacon of light within her family, providing endless love and support to her nieces  and nephews. Her parents and sisters welcomed her into the embrace of heaven as she left this world.

Jamie's personality shone through in everything she did. Described as loving, funny, caring, one of a kind, genuine, and unapologetically herself, she had an incredible ability to brighten any room with her presence. Her infectious laugh could bring joy to even the most somber moments.

Jamie's hobbies revolved around creating beautiful and memorable experiences for her family. She found great joy in spending time in her garden, nurturing vibrant flowers that mirrored her own radiance. Decorating brought out Jamie's creative side as she transformed spaces into warm and inviting havens where loved ones could gather. Of course, there was no greater pleasure for Jamie than preparing delicious meals for those she cherished most. Her talent as a cook was unmatched; every bite from her kitchen felt like a warm hug from Jamie herself.

Surrounded by her loving family until the very end, Jamie peacefully transitioned to eternity from her home. It is a testament to the profound impact she had on those around her.

Everyone is welcome to gather at Freeman Funeral Home in Citronelle to pay their final respects during the visitation on January 4, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The outpouring of love and support from friends and family will be a tribute to the incredible woman she was.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on January 5, 2024, at Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Mount Vernon with Bro. Kevin Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery. It will be a solemn occasion where loved ones gather to celebrate Jamie's life and bid their final farewells. In this sanctuary of love, prayers were said, memories will be shared, and tears will be shed as everyone comes together to honor the beautiful soul that Jamie Reed Byrd was.

Jamie's passing leaves a void that cannot be easily filled. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 38 years, James Byrd, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Their love story was one for the ages, serving as inspiration to all who witnessed it.

The legacy of Jamie's love extends beyond her marriage. Her children Brandy Byrd-Johnston (Brad), Joshua Byrd, James Henry Byrd Jr. (Latrisha), and Kalie Byrd Dixon (Michael) are a living testament to her devotion as a mother. Jamie poured every ounce of herself into raising them with boundless love and unwavering support.

Jamie's grandchildren Kaylin, Paytlin, Shelia, Bradlon, Nicholas, Krystalin, Mallory, Gracie, Sierra, Tristan, David, Bryant, Nolan, Oliver, Garrett, and Landon were undoubtedly the light of her life. She cherished each moment spent with them and showered them with affection. Her greatest joy was seeing their smiles and witnessing the individuals they became under her loving guidance.

In addition to her immediate family members, Jamie is survived by her siblings Audrey Orso (Cecil), Grace Reed, Karen Schaffer (Daniel), James Reed (Donna), Spencer Reed (Sam), and Wylie Reed (Angela). Their bond as siblings was unbreakable, and Jamie's passing has left an unmistakable void in their lives as well. Her loving presence will forever be missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the memories they shared together.

Jamie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Virginia Reed; sisters, Reba Stewart and Cheryl Rivers; and her nieces, Kiersten Pruitt, Haley Williamson, and Kaliyah Reed.

Jamie Reed Byrd's impact extended far beyond her family circle; she was loved and cherished by countless others. Relatives and friends held a special place in her heart, and they were considered an extension of her chosen family.
