Janet Louise Todd Mercer, a resident of Leakesville, Mississippi passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 58 years old. She was a carpenter and enjoyed photography in her spare time. She also loved to make crafts with driftwood. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Rex Todd and Etta Cooley; sister, Patsy Ann Todd. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Brandy Todd, Joshua Hattenstein (Scarlet) and Davin Mercer; grandchildren, Layken, Preston, Jaylee, Ryder, Jamison, and Railey; husband, Terry Mercer; sisters, Lynn Gunter, JoAnn Goldman, Katherine Taylor, Edna Taylor, Mary Carpenter and Betty Silcox; devoted nieces, Jennifer Mitchell and Hannah Wilkinson; devoted nephews, Lee Gunter and Benjamin Gunter; numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 2pm until the 3pm funeral service on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pisgah Baptist Cemetery in Leakesville, Mississippi. To celebrate Janet's colorful life, the family would like for everyone to wear bright colors or hats, for she did not want anyone to wear black.
