Jean Calliree Merchant Carney, born on August 28, 1935, passed away and entered her eternal home on Thursday, January 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Mobile Infirmary Hospital.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Wendil Carney; her children, Keith Miller (Donna), Charlotte Morgan (Mike), and Bobby Miller (Teresa); two sisters, Eudelle Merchant Turner and Frances Merchant Lewis; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Carney was preceded in death by her sons, Earl Miller, Kerry Miller, and Sidney Miller; her father, Newton Merchant; her mother, Maude Merchant Cooley; her brother, Charles Merchant; and her sister, Debra Merchant Fulkerson.
Mrs. Carney worked for Scott Paper Company for over 30 years and was a longtime member of Turnerville Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and took great pride in them. She had a passion for making quilts and enjoyed hunting and fishing, creating countless memories with her loved ones. Mrs. Carney was steadfast in her faith and will leave behind a lasting legacy of strength and unwavering love.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 27, 2025, at Tunerville Baptist Church at 2pm followed by a Funeral Service at 3pm with Rev. Billy Ray Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Turnerville Cemetery.
