Jean Gay Peterson Lott (b. January 15, 1929), a native of Whistler, AL. and long- term resident of Citronelle, Al., went to her heavenly home Monday, June 26, 2023 at the age of 94. Affectionately known as Maw Maw, she graduated from Murphy High School in 1947 then worked at Brookley Field until she married and started her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 63 years, Franklin "Frank" Emmett Lott, until his death in 2012. She is also predeceased by her parents, Robert Martin Peterson and Helen Lewis Jones Peterson her beloved grandsons, Stephen Franklin Lott, Jr., and Matthew James Wood; 6 brothers, Martin Peterson, Goodle Peterson, Don Peterson, Jack Peterson, Pete Peterson and Joe Peterson; 2 sisters, Helen Lewis Peterson Roberts and Mary Margaret Peterson Cochran. She is survived by her 3 children, Stephen F. Lott, Sr., Jeffrey G. Lott and Leah Lott Gill. Also left to cherish her memory are her 5 grandchildren, Ashley Lott Russo (Chris), Madelyn Claire Lott, Lindsay Lott, Sean Gill and Ryan Gill (Kelsey). Also 4 great-grandchildren, Elise, Margaret and Michael Russo and Adaleigh Mae Gill. She was also blessed to have a devoted friend, Marion Platt and caregiver, Paula Jordan Byrd, who provided her with much love and affection. Our mother and grandmother had the kindest and most gentle soul. She was a devout Episcopalian and represented her faith her entire life. She had special friendships with the "Whistler Girls" throughout her life. She enjoyed looking at cookbooks and collecting recipes, spending time at the river house in Bon Secour, AL and traveling. Most of all, her greatest joy was being surrounded by, and taking care of, her family.
She will be missed everyday.
