Jessie Mae Rivers, 82, a resident of McIntosh, Alabama, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama. She was a longtime and dedicated member of Magnolia Holiness Church. As a matriarch of the community she helped many folks by being able to solve many situations of day to day living. Jessie Mae worked for many years with L. B. Price as a sales person, made hundreds of quilts, and was a seamstress for the community. She is preceded in death by her husband, Percy Rivers and son, Alford Rivers. She loved spending time with her family and was a loving mother to her sons, Jerry Morris Rivers, Percy Carl Rivers, and Charles Leno Rivers; daughters, Mary Walthall and Betty Brett; and daughter-in-law, Jewel Rivers. Jessie Mae had nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. As the oldest of her siblings, she leaves brothers, Sheldon Weaver, Zeamon Weaver and Elvis Presley Weaver; sisters, Martha Ann Sullivan and Phyllis V. Herlong. She will be truly missed by many other relatives and friends. A wake will be held for Jessie Mae on Saturday, May 30, 2015, from 6 to 9pm at Magnolia Holiness Church. The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015, at 2pm at Magnolia Holiness Church with Rev. Ike Reed and Rev. Joe Sullivan officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
