Jessie Ray Dungan

Jessie Ray Dungan, 77, a native of Coffeeville, Alabama, former resident of Thomasville, Alabama and longtime resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. Ray worked as a heavy equipment operator for Taylor Construction. He was Past President of the Mount Vernon Rescue Squad and dedicated many hours of helping others. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, dancing and listening to music at the Gulf Coast Opry. But most of all, he loved Alabama football. He attended Lockler Memorial Baptist Church and Calvert Church of the Nazarene. Ray was a kind, humble man and would always help others in their time of need. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Vivian Dungan; wife, Jacqueline Dungan; brothers, Edwin Dungan, Bobby Dungan, Thomas Dungan; sisters, Sheryl Scroggins and Susie Mae Pugh. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Rosa Faye Dungan; son, Ronnie Dungan (Gail); grandson, Devin Dungan; devoted step-daughter, Sheila Jenkins; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends; beloved kitty, Lightning. The wake will be from 6-9 pm Friday, August 9, 2019 at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral service will be 10am Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Perkins, Rev. Tim Sullivan and Bro. Merrill Tindle officiating. Pallbearers will be James Taylor, Bubba Allen, Mickey Sheffield, Kevin Tindle, Ray Moseley, and Donnie Jarrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Leland Tindle, Bobby Walker, Edward Presley, Vernon Newton, Rudolph Jenkins, Greg Dungan and Mike Dungan. Burial will be in Bashan Cemetery in Thomasville, Alabama.
