Jewel Young Andrews

Jewel Andrews, a beloved member of her community, passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on February 23, 1947, Jewel lived a full life that was defined by her warm spirit and her love for family and friends.

She was known for her outgoing and social personality, which endeared her to everyone she met. Jewel had a particular passion for gardening and antiquing, often spending weekends exploring local shops and tending to her garden. Her vibrant enthusiasm extended to her love for Alabama football, where she could be found cheering on her team with unabashed fervor.

Jewel was also dedicated to her community. She served as a member of the historical society at Searcy Hospital, where her commitment to preserving the past was matched only by her eagerness to engage with those around her.

She is survived by her loving children, Sherry Jo Helton, Donald DWayne Andrews (Tonya), and Darnell Breland (Shayne). Jewel took immense joy in her grandchildren, who include Cherae Easterbrook (Matt), Christopher Helton (Maggie), Larissa Smith (Calep), Ethan Andrews (Kortnee), Kaytlin Allen (Dustin), Shaynna Dunaway (Dee), and Kyle Breland. In addition, she leaves behind thirteen great-grandchildren, who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.

She is also survived by her siblings, Joyce Andrews (Richard) and WP Young (Judy); special cousin, June Tedder Martin; along with a multitude of nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends who were inspired by her radiant spirit.

Jewel was preceded in death by her husband, LJ Andrews, Jr.; her son, William Darriel Andrews; her parents, PG and Dawsie Mae Young; and her siblings, Margie Steele and Lavelle Young. Their memories will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A wake will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Monday, March 17, 2025 at the same location beginning at 11:00 AM with Bro. Clay Lewis and Bro. Nick Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Charity Chapel Cemetery.

Jewel Andrews will be missed profoundly by all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, laughter, and community spirit will be remembered fondly, and she will remain in the hearts of family and friends forever.
