Joel “PeeWee” Johnston, Sr., 70, a native and resident of Citronelle, Alabama passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He was a longtime employee of Brown & Root Construction and retired with Enzor Marine. “PeeWee” was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, gardening and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Sterling Johnston, parents, Josephine and Clyde Nelson and sister, Diane Scott. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Joan Mott Johnston; daughters, Tammy (Jimmy) Fulmer and Ashley (Chuck) Helveston; sons, Joel, Jr. (Catrina) Johnston and Steve Johnston; grandchildren, Justin, Jared, Jenna, Jordan, Jay and Hope; brother, Joey (Audrey) Johnston; sisters, Louise Rivers and Etta Dean Reynolds; other relatives and friends. A wake will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 6pm-9pm at Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11am, Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Freeman Chapel with Rev. Al Moore and Rev. Doug Fairchild officiating. Burial will follow at Charity Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Johnston, Jared Johnston, Bo Boothe, Scott Boothe, Will Phillips and Mitchell Meinhardt.
