John Terril Martin

John Terril Martin, fondly known as "Terry," was born on June 19, 1957, and departed this life on January 20, 2025. Terry recently enjoyed a well-deserved retirement after a dedicated 45-year career at the Nouryon Chemical Plant, where he forged countless friendships that enriched his life and those around him.

Renowned for his warm and witty personality, Terry had an unparalleled ability to brighten any room he entered. Known as a friend to all, he embodied kindness, patience, and generosity. His loving nature extended not just to his family but to everyone fortunate enough to know him, leaving a lasting impression on all.

Terry took great joy in his hobbies, which included fishing and hunting. He was a passionate Auburn football fan and relished the moments spent watching his grandchildren play sports. Following his retirement, he frequently visited the lake to "wet a hook" and see if the fish were biting.

He is survived by his beloved children, Brooke Blount (Jeremy), Leslie Sullivan (Jeremy), and Lauren Martin (Felisha). He was cherished as "Big Daddy" to grandchildren, Micah, Lydia, Parker, Preston, Ashtyn, and Colt. Terry will also be remembered by his siblings, Allison Hester (Steven) and Mike Martin (Donna), along with many other relatives and friends who adored him.

Terry was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Jeanette Martin; his nephew, Landon Hester; and his brother, Robert "Cookie" Martin. The legacy of love and support he provided to his family stands as a testament to his character and achievements in life.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the 11:30 AM funeral service on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Living Word Church with Rev. Marcus Hobbs and Rev. Donnie Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. Terry's spirit will continue to shine through the memories cherished by those he left behind.

Pallbearers are: Mike stringer, Josh Johnston, Matt Johnston, Johnny Sellers, Glenn Blankinchip, and Barry Stagner. Honorary pallbearers are: Billy McKinney, Neil Morgan, Robby Devore, and Claiborne Johnston.
